What is PTA?

The Parent-Teacher Association is a school support organization. PTA enhances the education of our community’s children through financial support and hands-on service. Our hope is that 100% of our families will join PTA through membership and volunteer opportunities.

What is MEF?

The Mountain Education Foundation supports Thrasher financially. Without this support from MEF, we would not be able to offer art or computer classes. We also provide extra reading support with funds from MEF. Our hope is that 100% of our families will support Thrasher through the MEF.

Student Directory

A student directory app is available through the PTA.

About Thrasher

Thrasher is a Kindergarten through grade 5 school located in the heart of Signal Mountain, TN. From 1975 - 1999, Thrasher served the mountain as an intermediate school with grades 3 - 5. In the fall of 1999, it was reopened as a K - 5 school serving over 500 students. The inside of the school reflects the warmness of the mountain with an indoor pond and park benches. Throughout the school the walls are palettes for learning. Murals around the school continue the theme of the community and/or the curriculum of that grade level. The building reflects the school's child friendly and nurturing culture.

Teachers in all grade levels use technology as a tool to enhance and differentiate instruction; students use computers to publish writings, conduct research, create presentations, and practice academic skills.

We also boast a thriving extra-curricular clubs program. Students can choose up to two clubs to attend; with a variety of selections from the Book Club to the Robot Club, there's something for the everyone.

History

Thrasher Elementary School is a strong part of our local history. The school, on James Boulevard, opened in 1961, and grew rapidly with the population of Signal Mountain. Today, elementary students are served by Thrasher, and Nolan Elementary School.
